the beginning of your stairway is likely higher than the ground. Even if building all the walls to cover them is a pain. If I remember right these snap to the "floor and roof" fixtures better which is why I tend to use those. add shack stairs leading to where you wanted you're building to start. Be sure to go higher than anything poking out of the top of the pre-existing structure or your progress will come to a halt when you start laying floor. It's best to start at the highest point on the land surrounding the building, otherwise you will start building too far into the ground for the object to want to snap adjacent objects already built completely surround the existing structure. Choose either wooden foundation from the floor section or 'floor and roof' If I really want to build where an ugly permanent house is, I do this:
